Wednesday, June 21st: Atelier Impressions & Reggio School Observations

It has been a whirlwind of learning experiences for us.
On Tuesday, we had  a lecture on the culture of the Atelier in a Reggio Emilia environment.
Then, after our lunch break, we visited different ateliers in the visiting center.
Analisa visited the Digital display and was part of a group that focused on
color and texture. Stephanie joined a group exploring light and matter.
We were allowed to take photos of the atelier in the visiting center.

Entering the atelier....

Olivia (from Brazil) and Stephanie explore in a group how light engages with matter.

It was fun being in a space, normally occupied by children.

One of the panels in the atelier related to light.

The exit.... different textures, colors and languages...

Another lecture followed on learning stories, i.e. "the optimism of daisies" and
"the small blue egg".

Today, we got to visit a school of 3 - 6 year old children while the children were
in the school. Soooo many ideas and inspirations we got!!
Above all, we came back thinking that the MET EC is in a very good place.
We have felt throughout the summer school  so far that we already have put a lot of
Reggio practices in place at the MET. Yay!

Entrance to the school "8 Marzo".

Now, we are off to a festival in town! We'll check back in tomorrow.

Tuesday, June 20th: Reflections on our first Day

Our first day started yesterday!
We were so excited to get to the Loris Malaguzzi Center!

On our way to the Center.

Inside, the walls had many reminders written in different languages of the rights of children.

During the day, we were given information on the history and
the philosophy behind the
Reggio Emilia Schools.

A clay display in the Center.

In the late afternoon, we visited two different Early Childhood Centers.
We were not allowed to take photos but wrote down many
impressions and ideas  we saw.
It was so inspiring!

After  a delicious dinner in the old town.
More on our day tonight...

Reggio Emilia: Our Learning Journey in Reggio Emilia

Hello EC Team!

Here we are, starting our  Reggio adventure! We intend to write
a daily update to let you all know what we experienced during the day.

This is us,  leaving on Friday evening, looking pretty tired but super excited!

We got to see Sophie and her friend for a couple of hours in
Amsterdam which was wonderful!

We made it to Reggio on Sunday after a night in Bologna.
This is our first meeting with the other 120 participants in one of the town
squares. Over 30 countries are represented!

We are actually here!! Yay!

We take a walking tour through this charming city. There are
rehearsals going on for a classical open air concert.
It is very hot here, without humidity, which is nice.
They predict the hottest temperatures for decades for this week!
Does not bother us at all!

We meet up with about 25 participants for a traditional
Italian dinner. Delicious!

The second course included a choice of cow tongue,
picks knuckle, veal and ... who knows?

Having a good time!!
